Sanitation Latrine Building - is our primary program. Through fundraising, Canadian “partner schools” have helped to finance the building of almost 100 latrines since 2005. Why is adequate sanitation so fundamentally important for Kenyan schools? With the building of proper latrines, student absences due to illnesses brought on by poor sanitation are reduced; toilet wait times lessen resulting in more class time, and students acquire an improved level of privacy, safety and dignity.
Kanguu Primary School Latrine Building Project - Work began on this school's latrine project in mid-September. CCAAS is proud to announce that the project was completed on time and on budget Nov. 3, 2012. The 378 students who attend this primary school now have sanitation latrines that offer safety, privacy and dignity. The Head teacher (principal) stated, "The students were so very excited. They all wanted to be the first to use the new toilets!"
