This program was suggested by students from Lee Academy, Lynden Ontario and Viscount Montgomery Elementary School, Hamilton Ontario. Their basic idea was to find a way to build latrines at needy schools suggested by Connecting Countries Adopt-a-School (CCAAS), while at the same time continuing to support the schools their Pen Pals attend.

Viscount Montgomery Elementary School’s 3rd Annual Climb-a-thon was held on May 17, 2010. The students raised funds to continue building new sanitation latrines in Kenyan schools. This fundraiser allowed Equator Primary School in Kenya to remain open. Earlier this year the Kenyan Ministry of Health threatened to close this school because it condemned the original latrines. On behalf of the 321 students who now can continue their education, thank you Viscount Montgomery School.
