    Viscount Montgomery 3rd Annual Climb-a-thon

    -May 2010-
Viscount Montgomery Elementary School’s 3rd Annual Climb-a-thon was held on May 17, 2010. The students raised funds to continue building new sanitation latrines in Kenyan schools. This fundraiser allowed Equator Primary School in Kenya to remain open. Earlier this year the Kenyan Ministry of Health threatened to close this school because it condemned the original latrines. On behalf of the 321 students who now can continue their education, thank you Viscount Montgomery School.

Connecting Countries Adopt-a-School attends Social Justice Fair

    -April 2010-
Connecting Countries was again invited to attend the HWDSB’s 3rd Annual Social Justice Fair. The event was held at Hamilton’s Liuna Station. Connecting Countries presented a mini workshop to students from various Hamilton schools. The workshop’s theme was “Sanitation Education”. Students created a comic strip that told a story, offered a message or gave advice about the threats associated with poor sanitation.

    Digital Camera to Kenya

    –Spring 2010–
During September 2009, Connecting Countries Adopt-a-School sent a digital camera to Kenya. The “Keeper of the Camera” is the Head teacher at one of our “adopted” schools, Madaraka Primary School. As luck would have it, an acquaintance of ours was heading to Kenya and volunteered to transport the camera and some pencils and a couple of soccer balls in her luggage.

    School Supplies to Kenya

    –Spring 2009–
While not part of its mandate, Canadian organizers took advantage of a unique opportunity to send a shipping container filled with computers, school furnishings and supplies to the schools of  Kenya in January 2007.
